The Royal House on Monday shared a special about the King as the royal family gathered to celebrate special occasion.
King Fredrik was joined by his wife Queen Mary and the rest of the royal members as he marked his 57th birthday – the Danish monarch’s second birthday since his ascension to the throne.
The Royal House shared highlights from the celebrations as they all gathered at the balcony to greet the crowds.
“When the clock struck 12:00, the birthday boy of the day, His Majesty the King, stepped onto the balcony of Frederik VIII's Palace in Amalienborg and waved to the crowd at the castle square along with his family,” the statement read alongside the carousel post.
“It is an old tradition that the regent is celebrated on his birthday with a balcony scene in connection with the big changing of the guard - so today on the King's 57th birthday.”
