Jamie Lee Curtis revealed how the Freaky Friday 2 hype first took off, eventually leading to the sequel’s full-blown production.
While The Last Showgirl star reflected on how her bond with Lindsay Lohan kept growing and became strong 22 years after the 2003 movie, which starred them in a mother-daughter duo who swapped bodies, she revealed how the idea of Freakier Friday came into being.
Earlier this week, in an interview with People, the Oscar-winning actress recalled that a photo of herself and the Mean Girl alum took during one of their get-togethers sent the internet into a frenzy, prompting creators to think about a sequel to Freaky Friday.
"It was her visiting me, bringing her baby to visit me, that led to a picture of the two of us that I posted, and then the floodgate of people going, 'Oh my God, oh my God,'" she disclosed.
Curtis then shared she called the Disney studios, giving them the idea that "Lindsay's old enough to have a teenager. 'Let's go! And then they did.'"
Freakier Friday, a soon-to-be-released sequel, will feature Lohan and Curtis reprising their roles as mother-daughter duo Anna and Tess Coleman as they swap bodies with two others decades later.
