Kate Winslet’s daughter, Mia Threapleton, surprised her mom with her choice to pursue a career in acting.
The 24-year-old actress recalled that Winslet was “caught off-guard, going, ‘Oh, really? OK,’” when she told her the first time about deciding to pursue acting.
Although the young actress was interested in performing arts since she was 10, she gave her first audition at 15. She put her mind to “try and see what was out there,” Threapleton told The Sunday Times, in an interview on Sunday, May 18th.
Setting records straight on nepotism rumours, Threapleton said, “I wanted to do that on my own. “I don’t really know how to answer that, to be honest. I mean, you can’t [choose your parents]. You can’t.”
The Shadows star went on to share her mom’s consistent advices as she got into acting, saying, “[She said], ‘Read the damn script as many times as you can. She was very, very encouraging of me doing it on my own and for myself, having the experiences being mine and mine alone. But she always — I mean, always — emphasized the hard work that goes into it and the effort that needs to go into it.”
Winslet shares Mia with her ex-husband, Jim Threapleton, whom she had a divorce with in 2001.
