Peter Krause comforts devastated fans after '911' shocker
'911' star Peter Krause reflects on his bond with on screen wife Angela Bassett: 'Fantastic'
Peter Krause, who played L.A. Fire Capt. Bobby Nash in ABC’s longrunning first responder drama 9-1-1, continued to console the heartbroken fans after his unexpected exit.
Following the Thursday, April 17, episode, titled "Lab Rats," which saw Bobby tragically killed off, Krause has stepped forward to comfort devastated yet disappointed viewers and reflect on the emotional farewell.
"He was willing to sacrifice himself so that others can see another day," the 59-year-old said in a recent interview, explaining Bobby's final heroic act.
The actor also admitted to how deeply he will miss the 9-1-1 set, a place that had become his second home over the past eight years.
The interview came just a day after Krause penned a heartfelt letter to fans, which was hared on the show’s official Instagram.
In the lengthy message, he thanked the creators for giving him the chance to portray Bobby and opened up about the real-life lessons he learned while working alongside actual firefighters during the show’s production.
"I’ve heard that many fans are upset by this loss and they have to be," The Catch actor wrote. "It is a loss. That said, it was more than a bold creative choice on a bold show."
"Bobby Nash was written in sacrifice and he was built for this," he continued. "First responders risk their lives on the job so that others can see another day. His story arc honours them."
Krause honoured the real-life first responders, saying, "We at 911 salute all the incredible men and women who do these dangerous jobs and strive to keep us safe."
The Sports Night alum also expressed his deep affection for co-star Angela Bassett, who plays Bobby’s on-screen wife, LAPD Sgt. Athena Grant-Nash.
"I want a relationship like that on TV again. It’s been a fantastic eight years," he said. "I’m going to miss her a lot."
Krause’s departure marks a major moment in 9-1-1 history, as it’s the first time an original cast member has died since its debut.
