In the final days before her untimely death, Betsy Arakawa wife and devoted caretaker of legendary actor Gene Hackman made series of frantic efforts to understand and ease her worsening health symptoms.
Arakawa, 65, passed away in February from hantavirus pulmonary syndrome.
Just days later, 95 year-old Hackman also died, reportedly from heart disease compounded by complications from Alzheimers', reported DailyMail.
Sources suggest the Oscar-winning actor may not have fully comprehended his wife's death due to his declining condition.
In a turn of events, Arakawa had turned to the internet in search of answers and purchased oxygen canisters from Amazon on February 11, believed to be for urgent respiratory support.
Inside their home, investigators also found tender handwritten notes exchanged between the couple-a quiet testament to their love and care for each other, even as their final days approached.
