Palace 'displeased' as Prince Harry's legal battle overshadows King Charles' visit abroad
The Duke of Sussex arrived in London as he spent two days at the Royal Courts of Justice
Prince Harry's unexpected return to the UK has stirred fresh tensions within royal circles, as his legal appearance in London coincided with King Charles' state visit to Italy.
The Duke of Sussex arrived in London over the weekend on an unannounced trip, drawing attention as he spent two days at the Royal Courts of Justice.
He is appealing the previous dismissal of his legal challenge against the Home Office, contesting a decision by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) regarding changes to his taxpayer funded security while in Britain.
What added to the Palace buzz was the timing of Harry's visit. His brief stay in the capital reportedly overlapped with that of his estranged father, King Charles.
A source close to the King told The Daily Mail's Richard Kay that the Duke's presence created an unnecessary distraction during a key moment in the monarch's overseas engagements.
Another source said, 'It is unwritten rule when monarch is on official visit, rest of family needs to avoid anything that grabs the limelight. Has Harry forgotten everything about royal life.?'
For the unversed, Harry is believed to have last seen King Charles over a year ago when he made a brief visit to the UK in light of the news of the King's cancer diagnosis.
