Prince William’s temper may run in the family, but Kate Middleton has mastered the art of keeping it in check.
In a new interview with Fox News Digital on Friday, March 21, royal expert Tom Quinn claimed that palace staff joke about the Princess of Wales treating her husband like a “fourth child” when he gets frustrated and throws occasional “tantrums.”
“Occasionally, William has little tantrums and irritations if things aren’t done the way he wants them done [as heir to the British throne],” Quinn explained.
However, he noted that Middleton is “very good at managing” these moments, just as she does with their children: Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.
A royal staffer reportedly told Quinn that they “don’t know” where William would be without his wife.
“She calms him down when he gets a bit fractious,” they said, adding, “She says he sometimes has to be treated as her fourth child!”
The author suggested that William’s behaviour may stem from his “emotionally damaging childhood,” including his parents’ highly publicised divorce and the death of Princess Diana.
He explained that William found comfort in Middleton’s family, as they were “very warm, very close with each other, very emotionally aware.”
While Quinn claimed William’s outbursts were more frequent in the early days of his relationship with Kate, he believes they’ve mellowed over time. However, he also noted that both William and his father, King Charles III, are “prone to tantrums” when things don’t go their way.
