A former employee of Yeezy is suing Kanye West, claiming in a complaint that the rapper threatened her because she was Jewish, likened himself to Hitler, and fired her the day after she told her boss about his alleged behaviour.
On Tuesday, February 11, Jane Done, the employee, filed her complaint in the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
According to court documents obtained by People magazine, Doe started working with Yeezy as a marketing strategist in late 2023, around the time that West apologised in Hebrew to the Jewish community for a slew of antisemitic statements.
West "carried out a calculated campaign to threaten and psychologically torment Jewish people around him, especially Plaintiff," according to the lawsuit, following his "short lived" apology.
West allegedly started calling himself a "Hitler" and a "Nazi," and he threatened Doe because she was Jewish, according to the court filings. He allegedly called her a "bitch," "ugly," and "spewed hate speech against" her religion on multiple occasions.
West's upcoming album Vultures Vol. 1 received a lot of backlash in January 2024 after its cover was likened to Nazi connotations. According to Doe's affidavit, she had advised a colleague that West should publicly denounce "any ties with Nazism" in order to "quell the negative attention." According to reports, West texted back, "I Am A Nazi."
According to the lawsuit, West reportedly shared a picture of a naked woman to a group chat that included Doe in January 2024.
"The unwelcome exposure to such nudity made Plaintiff feel uncomfortable and deeply unsettled," the lawsuit stated. "However, Plaintiff did her best to ignore it and persevered through Ye's constant degradation of women."
West's purported behaviour persisted into the first part of 2024. He allegedly texted Doe and other Jewish coworkers, "Welcome to the first day of working for Hitler," on June 4, according to the complaint.
After that, Doe and two other Jewish employees were allegedly kicked out of the group chat by West. According to Doe, West told them, "F--- both of you," after re-adding them to the chat before removing them once more.
