Prince Harry answers son Archie’s ‘difficult’ question about family
Prince Archie's curiosity urges Prince Harry to reveal key detail about royal life
Prince Harry got candid about an important conversation he had with his five-year-old son Prince Archie over the late Princess Diana.
The Duke of Sussex, who is currently a core presence at the Invictus Games in Canada alongside his wife Meghan Markle, sat down for an interview in which he revealed how the Games have left an impact on his children.
Harry noted that children “always ask the right questions” as he recounted how Archie’s curiosity around amputees and landmines led the young royal to the work his Grandma Diana did.
“Archie was asking about landmines, so I was talking about these guys...” Harry told the interviewer. “But then I found myself talking with him about mines at five years old, and interestingly it gave me a chance to talk about my mum.”
He continued, “He then saw videos he wanted to see photos of his grandma Diana out doing her thing with landmines all those years ago”, adding that it “produced a very interesting conversation” which was “different” than he expected.
Princess Diana worked closely with The HALO Trust, an organisation dedicated to clearing landmines and explosive devices left by conflicts, before her death in 1997.
Prince Harry has carried on his mother’s legacy and closely works with the organisation.
While Harry and Meghan have been sharing values of the late royal Princess Diana with Archie and their three-year-old daughter Princess Lilibet, there is not much of a relationship with the remaining members of the royal family.
King Charles is reportedly eager to meet with his US-based grandchildren, but Harry is determined to get his police security protocol first before he brings back his family to the UK.
