Jelly Roll reveals where he keeps fan note that made him ‘sob' 4 years ago
Jelly Roll talks with John Cena about special fan note that made him cry
Jelly Roll loves when he and his music has a positive impact on a fan's life.
During the second episode of What Drives You with John Cena, singer-songwriter Jelly Roll opened up about an emotional fan note that has stayed with him for years.
The episode, which was filmed in Nashville, also gave viewers a glimpse into Jelly’s impressive car collection and personal journey.
Before heading out to grab a meal, Jelly Roll, 40, showcased his prized vehicles. Among these highlights was something deeply personal—a note from a fan taped to his dashboard.
“You want to talk about what drives me? There’s a note right here," Jelly said, pointing to the message.
“I want you to check it out if you don’t mind. You can read it right there on my dash.”
The handwritten note read, “Your music saved my best friend’s life. Thank you for being unapologetically you and doing what you do.” It was simply signed, “A.”
Jelly Roll revealed that he found the note left on his car window four years ago.
“I sobbed in the parking lot reading this note,” he admitted. “I got in and stuck it in my dash. Four years later, that thing is still taped on my dash.”
When Cena, 47, asked if Jelly knew who had written the note, the Son of a Sinner singer admitted he didn’t but said that was part of its magic. “That’s the cool thing about it,” Jelly shared.
Cena praised Jelly Roll, born Jason DeFord, for his ability to connect with people. “You undoubtedly have a certain energy and gravity about you,” the WWE star told him.
The episode also took a detour into Jelly Roll’s sneaker collection.
He reflected on how his passion for sneakers began during his childhood. “Growing up, my parents did the best they could to buy us anything we wanted,” he shared. “One of the first things I did when I started getting success was buying sneakers.”
Jelly admitted that his collection grew to an unexpected size.
“I didn’t realize how many I bought until my wife told me it was ‘getting crazy.’” For the artist, each pair of sneakers represents a special moment in his life, making the collection even more meaningful.
