Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has made it clear that the government is prepared to take action regarding Prince Andrew's alleged connection to Chinese spy H6, following the recent scandal.
In response to the allegations, the Duke of York's office has issued its first public statement, addressing the controversy.
The statement clarifies that Andrew followed advice from Her Majesty's Government (HMG) and immediately severed contact with the individual after concerns were raised.
The Duke’s representatives emphasized that the pair met through official channels and that no sensitive matters were ever discussed.
However, due to national security considerations, Andrew is unable to comment further on the situation.
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has reassured the public that the UK’s security and intelligence agencies remain on high alert for any potential threats, including foreign influence and espionage.
Addressing concerns about national security, Cooper emphasized the government's proactive stance, stating, "Our security and intelligence agencies are continually vigilant for any threat to UK national security, whether it be foreign influence, espionage, or any other security challenge."
While Cooper refrained from commenting on specific allegations, she made it clear that the government would not hesitate to act if any threats were identified.
"We won’t hesitate to take action in individual cases or more widely, wherever any challenge arises," she said, reinforcing that national security remains a top priority.
