Robert Pattinson's popularity declined amid retirement speculations
Robert Pattinson drops hints about retirement from acting
Robert Pattinson's popularity seemed to decline after a fan thought the actor had an early retirement from acting since Twilight success.
In a new interview with The New York Times, the Tenet actor, who rose to fame with Edward Cullen role in 2008 feature adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight, opened up about his funny interaction with an airport employee.
“Hey, you’re the guy from Twilight. Why’d you stop acting?” asked his fan who was of the view that Robert had retired from acting.
To which the Damsel actor replied, “I was like ‘I’m Batman?’ She just laughed.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Robert opened up about his popularity decline after spending a decade in the industry.
“There’s something about the nature of being fresh meat,” he told the outlet.
The Life actor remarked, “They thought, ‘You’re not even a human.’”
“The main thing is constantly remembering what your job is… It’s a discipline to not use your energy on anything other than that,” noted Robert.
However, now working as a producer, Robert had different viewpoint about the industry.
If you are just an actor, you don’t meet with anyone other than directors who want you to play an English prince,” he mentioned.
Robert, who will lead leading Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17, added, “Doing this, I’ve met so many different people and I have something to provide them.”
“It’s made me more understanding of what I’m doing as a performer, as well,” he added.
Meanwhile, Robert is also thinking retirement from acting after working on the second installment in Matt Reeves trilogy, which will release in fall 2026.
"I could genuinely be retiring by the end of them,” concluded the actor.
