BTS' V faces heartbreak amid chart-topping success
BTS member V shares tragic news amid new songs release
V’s chart-topping success has been clouded by a major personal loss.
On December 2, the BTS star took to his Instagram stories to announce the passing of his pet dog, Yeontan.
Before sharing the heartbreaking news, V, whose real name is Kim Taehyung, began the post on a positive note, reflecting on the "fond memories" he made while working on Winter Ahead with Park Hyo Shin and White Christmas with Bing Crosby.
"Actually, the reason I’m writing this post today is that recently, Yeontan has embarked on a long journey to the dog stars," he then shared, according to a translation by Soompi. "I would be grateful if you could remember Yeontan and wish for his happiness even in the stars."
V, 28, then signed off, saying, "I wish ARMY to always be healthy until the day we meet again! I love you. Thank you."
A day later, he posted a carousel on his feed with a simple caption, "Mr. Kim Yeontan," accompanied by a black heart emoji.
The post also included pictures and videos of the black and brown Pomeranian and V, playing, hugging and sending time together.
The loss comes just ahead of the release of V's collaboration with Crosby on the Christmas classic.
Additionally, V topped the Apple iTunes charts in more than 75 regions with his latest single, Winter Ahead, a collaboration with Park Hyo Shin, within 24 hours of its release on November 15.
