Queen Camilla’s health concerns seem to be growing as the Palace is forced to make major change in plans for the important State Visit.
King Charles’ wife, who is understood to be under the lingering side effects of a viral chest infection, is set to miss out on the ceremonial welcome of the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, accompanied by his wife, Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani.
Buckingham Palace stated that the official programme has been tweaked and Camilla will miss the outdoor event on Horse Guards Parade which will be attended by King Charles and Prince William on Tuesday.
She will also not be present for the carriage ride back to Buckingham Palace.
However, Camilla is still expected to attend other elements of the State Visit such as the lunch at the Palace upon their return and is expected to view an exhibition in the Picture Gallery.
The royal was hit with the chest infection for several weeks which led her to withdraw from several public appearances including the significant events in the royal calendar like Remembrance Sunday Weekend and the Royal Variety Performance in November.
Royal doctors recommended the Queen to skip these events in order to prevent any more complications from the infection.
She reportedly contracted the viral during her trip to Australia and Samoa, which has left her with “significantly diminished reserves of energy”. Hence, doctors have recommend that the Queen rest until she has fully recovered.
