Victoria Kjaer Theilvig makes history as Denmark’s first Miss Universe champion
Victoria’s win is being celebrated as a breakthrough moment for Denmark
Denmark has achieved a historic milestone as Victoria Kjaer Theilvig was crowned Miss Universe during the pageant’s 73rd edition, held on Saturday.
Victoria, 21, is the first-ever contestant from Denmark to win the coveted title. She is a multi-talented young woman celebrated as an entrepreneur, animal rights advocate, and professional dancer.
Her victory was met with resounding cheers from fellow contestants as she received the crown from outgoing Miss Universe, Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua.
The grand finale, hosted in Mexico, brought together 120 participants from across the globe.
The competition’s first runner-up, Nigeria’s Chidimma Adetshina, is a law student who impressed judges with her eloquence and grace. Other finalists included Maria Fernanda Beltran from Mexico, Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand, and Ileana Marquez of Venezuela. Marquez, at 28 years old, had previously made waves as the first mother to win the Miss Venezuela title.
This year’s pageant marked the fifth time Mexico has hosted the prestigious event, despite ongoing debates about its relevance in modern society. The finale showcased a vibrant performance by singer Robin Thicke and was co-hosted by Mario Lopez, known for Saved by the Bell, and former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo.
Victoria’s win is being celebrated as a breakthrough moment for Denmark in the world of global beauty pageants, highlighting the country’s diverse representation and progressive values.
