'Gladiator' child star lauds Paul Mescal for playing his character in sequel
Spencer Treat Clark played Paul Mescal’s character as a child in the original 2000’s 'Gladiator' movie
Paul Mescal has recently garnered praise from Spencer Treat Clark in Gladiator II.
Speaking to PEOPLE, Spencer, who played Paul’s character Lucius Verus as a child in the original 2000 Gladiator movie, gushed over Foe actor after watching the trailer for Ridley Scott’s much anticipated sequel.
“The movie looks so good, and Paul's going to do such a great job,” said the 37-year-old.
Spencer told the outlet, “I've actually heard great things about the movie.”
The Salem’s Lot actor opened up that Ridley made the first Gladiator “25 years ago,” and Spencer believed that people forget.
“I feel like it was 25 years ago, but for some people, seeing me as an adult and being like, 'Oh my God, you're right. You were Lucius in Gladiator,' is so wild,” explained Spencer.
However, the actor mentioned, “I'm really excited to see the movie and to see what Paul brings to it. And yeah, it comes out soon. So, I'm excited for it.”
Earlier in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ridley shared he’s all set for a third movie, even though the sequel still away from its premiere.
The director added, “There’s already an idea,” noting that his concept for a third Gladiator movie takes inspiration from Francis Ford Coppola's 1974 epic The Godfather Part II.
Meanwhile, Gladiator II is going to release in theatres on November 22.
