Mary-Kate Olsen and Sean Avery sparked romance rumours after they were spotted together during an outing in the Hamptons.
As the buzz about their romance began to pick up, sources close to the pair dispelled any such notion to Us Weekly.
“Mary-Kate and Sean have been friends since 2006, they had a fling for a while in 2007 and have remained friends,” the insider told the outlet. “They see each other every summer in The Hamptons, but they’re just friends.”
Olsen, 37, and Avery, 44, were spotted together over Memorial Day weekend in the Hamptons in photos obtained by DeuxMoi.
The Daily Mail reported that Avery and Olsen also visited their friend Andy Cohen.
The former hockey player, who was married to model Hilary Rhoda from October 2015 to July 2022, and the actress also share plenty of mutual friends.
Sources also shared that the duo’s recent outing for normal since “they see each other a few times every summer and have a ton of mutual friends.”
“They’re both single right now, so there’s a possibility they could hook up again,” the insider added. “But they seem like platonic friends when they’re together, as they have for a while.”
