Sean Kingston was taken into custody hours after his mother was arrested in Florida.
People reported on Thursday, May 23, that the Beautiful Girls hitmaker was detained in California hours after an arrest warrant had been issued earlier in the day following a raid on his South Florida mansion.
"This evening, police in Fort Irwin, Calif., arrested Kisean Anderson, aka Sean Kingston, without incident on a Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest warrant for numerous fraud and theft charges," the office confirmed in a statement.
They added, "According to investigators, he will be booked into jail in San Bernardino, Calif."
Earlier the same day, the 34-year-old Jamaican-American former singer and rapper’s mother, Janice Turner, was detained under her own numerous fraud and theft charges.
The Broward Sheriff's Office confirmed that the arrest and search warrants were served at a Southwest Ranches residence following an active investigation.
Additionally, hours before his arrest, Kingston took to social media to update his followers on the situation.
With a black background, he penned on his Instagram stories on Thursday afternoon, "People love negative energy! I am good, and so is my mother!"
"My lawyers are handling everything as we speak," he concluded the brief note.
For the unversed, the raid on the Florida residence was prompted by a lawsuit filed in February between Ver Ver Entertainment and Kingston, claiming that the latter had not paid after purchasing items from the company.
