The Money Saving Expert, who married the TV journalist Lara Lewington in 2009, revealed that although she’s adamant to keep her name in the broadcasting world, she did go through a 'complicated' legal process to merge the two surnames.
In a candid setup on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday, May 22, Martin explained that his wife changed his name.

Celebrating their first year wedding anniversary, Sophie changed her surname to Laing after Jamie Laing revealed a present from his wife Sophie Habboo.
The 35-year-old expressed his excitement on their podcast The Newly Weds, noting: “It caught me by surprise, it was amazing.”
Martin then explained how his wife changed her name after they got married, adding: “Lara is legally Lara Lewis, but her name is obviously Lara Lewington”.
He continued: “When we actually got married we shared surnames, we took the first four letters of Lewington, Lewi, and added the S of my name and got Lewis on the backend.”
Sharing his stance on the name, he added: “But I said she should have been Lara Lewington Lewis because that is a great telly name!”
“It feels a bit complicated,’ Jamie chimed in with, with Martin clarifying: ‘Lara Lewington is her working name, Lara Lewis is her legal name.”
