Sarah Hyland’s ex Matt Prokop gets arrested for alleged assault

Matt Prokop, who dated Sarah Hyland from 2008 to 2014, has been arrested for alleged assault on his current girlfriend.

According to TMZ, Victoria PD responded to a call on Saturday after Prokop’s girlfriend reportedly told someone that the actor, 33, assaulted her.

The couple had left the area by the first responders arrived, but the authorities were soon called to a reported domestic disturbance somewhere else in Victoria involving the two an hour later.

Prokop was booked into Victoria County Jail on charges of aggravated assault with a weapon and resisting arrest. He bonded out on the two charges.

The High School Musical 3 star previously faced allegations of partner abuse by his Disney co-star Hyland.

Hyland and Prokop starred in 2011’s Geek Charming. The pair had first met at an audition for High School Musical 3: Senior Year.

In September 2014, the Modern Family actress, also 33, filed for a temporary restraining order against Prokop after alleging he choked and threatened her life.

Hyland told authorities, “His grip was so tight that I could not breathe or speak. I was scared and in fear for my life.”

Prokop was ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from Hyland and her dog.

Hyland has since moved on with Bachelor in Paradise bartender Wells Adams, whom she married in August 2022.
