Cardi B gets candid about rocky relationship with Offset: ‘I can’t be a wife’
Cardi B and husband Offset had another brief split in December 2023 due to mutual problems
Cardi B is coming clean about her priorities in life, and it’s not her marriage with on-off husband Offset.
Appearing on Rolling Stone’s June issue, the 31-year-old rapper got brutally honest about her infamously tumultuous relationship with her husband of almost seven years and the father of her two children.
“When I met Offset, he was super rich and I just got my f***ing first $200,000 in the bank,” she recalled, further praising him for “never [making] me feel like I was little to him. He actually always used to tell me, ‘You a fucking superstar, watch.’”
However, she admitted that their relationship is rocky and they both “have our own bad stuff” as they’re from “two different worlds.”
On her part, the Boadack Yellow hitmaker admitted, “Sometimes I cannot be… not that I cannot be a wife. It’s just like, my career takes my life. You know what I’m saying? My career comes first, then my kids come second. And then sometimes I don’t realize that I’m putting so many things before my relationship.”
She then reflected about her most recent, highly public split from Offset.
“I remember last year when we was going through out hard time. And [he was] like, ‘Put your album out. You’re overstressing. When was the last time we went on a vacation?’”
“And it’s like, ‘I don’t got time to go on a vacation, because this comes first,’” she admitted. “This comes first then my kids come second. The little things I have to take care of then comes. I sometimes feel like I do probably put my relationship last.”
Notably, the Grammy-winner scrapped her plans for releasing her sophomore album this year after a heated exchange with fans whom she felt were pressuring her for new music.
