Emmerdale star Victoria Sugden recently called it quits with her former boyfriend Jacob Gallagher after their whirlwind romance.
Sugden decided to bring her relationship to an end after Gallagher’s mother Leyla suggested that she was holding him back from all the "big things" in life.
Previously, Jacob decided not to go to Berlin for higher studies and stay back with Victoria instead.
Following the news, Victoria officially parted ways with him, leaving Jacob heartbroken.
For the unversed, the duo was determined to keep their romance low-key, worrying about Victoria's ex-boyfriend David Metcalfe.
However, David who is also a father to Jacob, couldn’t cope with the news after learning about his relationship with Victoria.
He left the village shortly after, coinciding with Matthew’s decision to leave the ITV soap.
Speaking of David's exit from the show, Joe-Warren Plant said: "I’m gutted! I’ve learnt everything from him. I had no previous acting experience, so everything came directly from Matthew. It’s sad, but we’ll keep in touch - he’s my best friend! Matthew’s the most genuine soul you could ever meet. I’ll miss him, for sure."
He further talked about Jacob and David’s bond as father and son, adding: "It’s nice to see the change in conversations – everything’s a bit more grown-up and they talk more on a mature level. They’ve always got on, David’s a great father, but Jacob’s enjoying spending more time with David as a single dad ... It’s going to be strange not having him around!"
