Kristen Wiig starred in 2011 film alongside Rose Byrne, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ellie Kemper, Melissa McCarthy
Kristen Wiig recently commented on the possibility of a Bridesmaid sequel, shutting down all the rumors.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 50-year-old actress explained that a sequel of the 2011 comedy “has never been a conversation."
Speaking on the subject, the Saturday Night Live alum revealed: “That story had an end, and it’s so beloved to me for 10 million reasons, and I think it’s okay to just have it exist in the world as it is.”
Despite Wiig’s stance on the sequel, other cast mates have expressed interest in reprising their roles again.
Previously, Melissa McCarthy was thrilled to to do another Bridesmaid film, noting that she "would do a Bridesmaids sequel this afternoon, right now."
Recalling her time on the film, she added: "That group of women was the most magical thing ever. Almost all of us were really good friends already. I think it was such a magical time.”
Meanwhile, Rose Byrne, speaking to PEOPLE in 2023 revealed that she “absolutely would” participate in a sequel given “if all the girls were in.”
“It’s a hard act to follow because the first film was so great,” she added.
The comedy revolved around Wiig’s Annie Walker, who steps in the shoes as the maid of honor to her best friend Lillian, played by Maya Rudolph.
The film starred Rose Byrne, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ellie Kemper, Melissa McCarthy, alongside others.
