Real Madrid still holds special place in Cristiano Ronaldo’s heart

Cristiano Ronaldo, a Portuguese footballer and Al Nassr player, wished his old club Real Madrid on their 122nd anniversary, showing that the Spanish club still holds a special place in his heart.

In 2009, he became part of Los Blancos in a 90 million euro move from Manchester United and represented that team for nine years creating a historical record.

Ronaldo was featured in 438 official matches with 450 goals, which are regarded as the most in the club's history. He also provided 128 assists, a number which was deemed the second most of its kind.

Four Champions League, three FIFA Club World Cups, three UEFA Super Cups, two La Liga, two Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups were secured by El Bicho before saying goodbye to the club in 2018.

Taking to his social media accounts, Ronaldo congratulated the club on its 122nd anniversary.

"Congratulations on these 122 years of history, Madridista family! Hala Madrid,” Ronaldo wrote.

On March 6, 1902, Real Madrid came into being and climbed to becoming the best club in the world. They were also awarded the title of "Club of the Century" for their historical successes.

“Real Madrid turns 122 years old. On March 6, 1902, the first Board of Directors of the Madrid Foot Ball Club was officially elected. This is how the legend of the best club in the world started,” the club said in an official statement.

“122 years later, Real Madrid is a benchmark of world sport with its 25 European Cups (14 football and 11 basketball) and has the honour of having been chosen by FIFA as the Best Club of the 20th Century. During the last year, Real Madrid has won five titles that increase its impressive track record. Among these successes is the eleventh European Basketball Cup. It was a spectacular edition, which culminated with Llull's unforgettable basket with 3 seconds to go in the final against Olympiacos," they said.

"Along with the Euroleague, Real Madrid also won the Copa del Rey (against Osasuna) and the Spanish Super Cup (won this season against Barcelona). In basketball, the recent 29ª Copa del Rey joins the Spanish Super Cup at the beginning of the year," the statement added.
