The Army has announced its decision to retract a statement featured on its website regarding Kate Middleton's anticipated appearance at Trooping the Colour in June.
This claim sparked confusion following Kensington Palace's statement asserting that her attendance had not been confirmed.
The website had been selling tickets for the military event, accompanied by an image of Catherine, with a statement suggesting her involvement in reviewing troops on June 8th.
However, it was revealed that the Army had not obtained approval from the palace before publishing this information.
Typically, confirmation of senior royals' attendance at such events occurs closer to the event date.
Sources indicate that the Army's publication of event details was based on the princess's role as Colonel of the Irish Guards, the regiment scheduled to troop its color during this year's ceremony.
Kensington Palace retains sole authority to confirm the Princess of Wales' engagements, which have been temporarily halted following her abdominal surgery in January for an undisclosed condition.
While Palace has reported the satisfactory recovery, her return to public duties is not anticipated until after Easter.
Notably, the Army website also indicated that King Charles III would participate in the final parade on June 15th.
However, Buckingham Palace has not confirmed his attendance. Despite this, the Army website will not modify this section.
