Natalie Portman turned to author Nora Ephron for some advice amid her marital woes.
On Sunday, the 42-year-old actress took to her Instagram to share the book her book club picked for the month: Heartburn by Nora Ephron – an autographical novel based on her marriage with second husband Carl Berstein, his affair, and their subsequent divorce.
Portman posted a cheeky photo of herself reading the book, her eyes peeking out from behind the cover.
“Excited to finally read Nora Ephron’s Heartburn, her classic transformation of pain into humorous art. Looking forward to hearing what you all think! #MarchBookPick @natsbookclub,” she captioned the post.
Heartburn offers a look into the complexities of love, betrayal, and divorce, drawing inspiration from Ephron's own experiences with her second husband, who had an affair with Margaret Jay - British prime minister James Callaghan’s daughter.
The novel seemingly resonated with Portman as reports emerged of a split and possible “divorce” with her husband, Millipied – a French dancer and choreographer who has worked on Dune and Portman’s 2010 hit, Black Swan.
Last June, French publication Voici wrote an expose that Millipied cheated on Portman with a 25-year-old climate activist named Camille Etienne.
A source spilled to the Daily Mail earlier this year that “divorce is in the works” for the pair, though “nothing has been filed as of yet.”
Neither Portman nor Millipied have officially confirmed a split as they “figure out what is best for their children,” per the insider.
