Zayn Malik is back in the studio.
After years of being holed up in his Pennsylvanian home writing the album, the 31-year-old musician teamed up with record producer Dave Cobb to bring it to life, per a new report by the Rolling Stone.
Speaking to the publication, Cobb admitted that the thing that drew him the most towards Malik was his voice.
“You can hear love, loss, pain, triumph, and humanity in it. I feel as if this record is removing the glass from his spirit directly to his fans,” he told the outlet.
Cobb continued about the much-anticipated album, “Zayn has really created his own universe on this record, he really has no fear and is speaking straight from his soul.”
Notably, Cobb has previously worked with country and rock artists, such as Chris Stapleton and Lady Gaga, which may betray a hint as to the genre of the upcoming album.
The former One Direction member first teased his upcoming album last year during an interview with Alex Cooper on the Call Her Daddy podcast.
“I’m doing a record I don’t think people are really gonna expect. It’s a different sound for me,” he said.
“And it’s got some more narrative going on, like real-life experiences and stuff. My daughter’s mentioned in there a couple of times,” he continued, referring to his 3-year-old daughter Khai with ex Gigi Hadid.
