WhatsApp is reported to have developed a new feature that would let users exchange music during video calls, allowing them to connect virtually over a song just like they would in person.

This feature is comparable to Apple's SharePlay tool, which users can use while on FaceTime chats according to WABetaInfo.

A sneak peek at this feature is reportedly available in the 2.23.26.18 Android beta version of WhatsApp. However, because it is still under development, beta testers cannot access it just yet.

Screen sharing must be enabled in order for users to exchange audio during video chats.

This new feature is expected to work for group calls as well and would be functional for all participants in a group call.

It was first being developed for WhatsApp's iOS app, but it is currently also being tested on Android. When exactly Meta plans to implement this WhatsApp functionality is unknown at this time. However, it doesn't appear that long till a beta release.

In addition, Whatsapp users will soon have the option to share status updates with partner devices. This implies that you can now change your status on your secondary companion device using GIFs, photos, and videos.

This makes sure that no matter whatever device you use—your primary device or a friend's—you always get the same WhatsApp experience.
