Princess Diana once went ‘deeply off-brand’ to make Camilla ‘insane’
Princess Diana taunted Camilla Parker Bowles with a blast from the past of then-Prince Charles
Princess Diana had quite a collection of revenge dresses, and the late Princess made sure to don each one of them.
According to a royal author, Diana tried to make Camilla Parker Bowles go “insane” after she attended a Live Aid concert with Prince Charles in a blue polka dots dress designed by her rival.
Writing for her 2022 book, The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor – the Truth and the Turmoil, Tina Brown revealed that Dale “Kanga” Tryon, who designed Diana’s dress from 1985, was in love with the then-Prince Charles after meeting him at their high school at the age of 17.
The two allegedly became close after Dale moved to London and married Lord Tryon. “Dale’s directness, warmth and talent at country entertaining were just the sort of qualities that Charles admired in Camilla,” wrote Brown in her book.
Charles closeness with Dale made Camilla fume with fury, according to Brown, especially when the now-King once expressed that the Australian designer was “the only woman who ever understood me.”
“Princess Diana wore one of her deeply off-brand, multi-patterned dresses … just to make Camilla insane,” Brown noted.
Allegedly seething with rage, Parker Bowles later told Brown in an interview: “All this stuff about Lady Tryon being such a friend of Lady Diana … She’s never even met Diana Spencer.”
