Christopher Nolan explains the creative choice of black-and-white sequences in 'Oppenheimer'

Nolan revealed that the color sequences offer viewers a subjective perspective from J. Robert Oppenheimer himself, while the black-and-white parts provide an objective view from the perspective of Lewis Strauss, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., chronologically unfolding after the detonation of the bomb.

The brilliant storytelling approach has bolstered the film's popularity, attracting audiences eager to experience the thought-provoking and visually stunning portrayal of a pivotal historical moment.
