Prince Harry and Prince William may be in the middle of a royal rift, but the hopes of a reconciliation only lies with one person.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond claimed that the feud between the two estranged brothers could only have been mended by their late mother, Princess Diana.

“Diana was an absolutely devoted mother and her sons meant the world to her,” Bond told OK! Magazine UK on what would have been the princess’ birthday, July 1st.

“I’m sure her greatest wish would be to hug her boys again and find some way of resolving the rift between them,” Bond continued. “If anyone could sort things out, it would have been Diana.”

After Prince Harry stepped down from his senior royal role in 2020 along with his wife, Meghan Markle, there has been noticeable tension between the two siblings.

There appeared to be some strain on royal relationships after the couple’s March 2021 sit-down interview with Oprah and their 2022 Netflix doc, Harry and Meghan.

Especially, in January this year, in his bombshell memoir, Spare, Harry accused William of physically attacking him during a fight about Meghan in November 2019.

Shortly after the release of Prince Harry’s memoir, one source told People that Prince William needed “time to calm down” about it all.

“William is the one who is most upset and needs time to calm down,” an insider close to the royal household claimed at the time.

However, the two did reunite in September 2022 for a royal walkabout with their wives after Queen Elizabeth II’s death — but it was a united front that reportedly “required extended negotiations.”

The two brothers crossed paths again this past May for their father’s coronation ceremony, but did not interact at all.
