Dancing With the Stars celeb Robert Irwin revealed that his late father, Steve Irwin, is always close to him in a special way.
The Australian conservationist shared that he carries his father’s legacy on the stage.
The 21-year-old took to Instagram Stories to share with the audience that he brings two good luck charms with him every week.
One of them is a ring made from the keys of his childhood home.
The other charm is the most special one as it is a shirt once worn by his dad.
Irwin explained that the shirt was tattered and full of holes once, but now he has got ‘all patched back up again and all of the holes repaired’.
“Each tear and missing button tells another story,” said Irwin giving his fans a glimpse of each repair.
“Before you see me in costume, I’ve already danced once in Dad’s shirt. It feels like a big hug every time I put it on.”
Irwin also gave a rare insight to the story behind the ring which has 1638, the address of the Australian zoo, engraved on it.
“I’ve been putting it on every Tuesday morning before the live taping. In some way, I want him part of this, because this experience has truly changed my life,” Irwin said.
Fans and family got overwhelmed by the love-filled tribute to Steve.
They flooded the comment section with messages.
Terri Irwin, his mother, mentioned Steve ‘would be chuffed for sure’.
One social media user wrote, “He’s with you every step of the way.”
