Anthony Hopkins finally breaks silence on Jodie Foster feud rumour

Anthony Hopkins has recently broken silence on Jodie Foster feud while filming their 1991 movie, The Silence of the Lambs.

During an appearance on latest episode of the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast, the Welsh actor recalled meeting Jodie at the time of making a movie.

“She was very nice to him,” negating the idea about the actress never speaking to her at the time of movie shooting.

Anthony clarified, “That's not true. We were quite friendly. There's nothing spooky about it. That's publicly crap.”

The Hannibal actor wrote in We Did Ok, Kid: A Memoir that he and Jodie tried to stay away from each other before they finished filming because of their characters.

Anthony spoke to Dax that Jodie seemed immediately struck by his performance.

“We did the first reading, and I knew how to play it, stated the 87-year-old.

The Father actor mentioned that it was “the first reading around a table in New York, of all places”.

“So, we finished the script and Kenny Utt, one of the producers, says, 'Holy Moses, Tony, what is that?' And Jodie said, 'You're scary,’” recalled Anthony.

In his memoir, the actor wrote, “We just flew right into it… I wanted to show what I could do, so I was as scary as I could be. You could have heard a pin drop in the room. A couple of seconds after I started to speak as Lecter, I saw Jodie grow tense.”

Meanwhile, Anthony revealed in his book that he and Jodie hand lunch on the last day of shooting the Jonathan Demme-directed movie.

The Fracture actor recounted, “Jodie put down her sandwich and said she had to confess something: she'd been scared of me.”
