Angelina Jolie's new emails surface amid Brad Pitt legal battle

Angelina Jolie is opening up about how difficult her ongoing legal fight with Brad Pitt has been, sharing in newly surfaced emails that the stress has taken a toll on her health.

According to documents cited by USA Today, Jolie wrote to her business manager in May 2021 expressing that the dispute over Château Miraval was weighing heavily on her.

She said she needed to cut out stress from her life and noted she felt physically affected by the situation, writing, “I honestly feel I am getting sick from worry. So I would like us to discuss better support. And not continuing relationships that you see cause me stress.”

In the same message, she briefly mentioned her brother, James Haven, and described situations where she felt she was giving without appreciation, calling it “just wrong.”

The emails continued over time. In November 2023, Pitt’s legal team reportedly received a response from Jolie’s attorneys regarding what they called a $35 million lawsuit brought by Pitt.

Her lawyers pointed out that the intense work required in the case was only happening because of his choices, writing, “The burdensome nature of any production is a matter of Mr. Pitt’s own creation—he is suing Ms. Jolie for $35 million in damages.”

They added that he would have to produce documents proving those claims.

Another email from October 2023 echoed the same point, noting that Pitt was “seeking ongoing damages for alleged harm to Miraval’s ongoing operations.”

It also challenged what they described as Pitt’s refusal to share materials tied to why he wanted his four-year NDA that covered “his personal misconduct.” Jolie’s team argued those documents were essential to their case.

USA Today reports that these emails were part of a large, 286-page filing in Los Angeles, in which Pitt’s lawyers pushed to obtain Jolie’s messages involving the 2021 sale of the French winery.

Her team declined, citing attorney-client privilege.

Pitt also asked the court to deny Jolie’s request that he pay $33,000 in attorney fees connected to a filing opposing his earlier request for the private emails.

The legal fight began in 2022 when Pitt accused Jolie of selling her share of Château Miraval without giving him the chance to approve the deal.

Jolie denied there was ever such an agreement and countersued, claiming the actor launched what she described as a “vindictive war” against her.

Her legal team also said Pitt chose not to buy her out because she would not sign a nondisclosure agreement that would have barred her from speaking about an alleged incident on a 2016 flight.

Jolie has previously said that Pitt was abusive toward her and their six children during that trip.

The dispute continues as both sides fight over documents, financial claims, and the future of the once-jointly owned winery.
