Daisy Edgar-Jones, fresh off Twisters, and CODA star Emilia Jones are set to lead Bad Bridgets, a period revenge thriller marking the next feature from Kneecap director Rich Peppiatt.

The project, already generating strong industry buzz, will be introduced at November’s American Film Market, with FilmNation handling international sales and WME Independent overseeing domestic distribution.

Produced by LuckyChap and Peppiatt’s Coup d’État banner, Bad Bridgets is well into development, boasting an award-winning creative team that includes Oscar-winning production designer James Price (Poor Things) and acclaimed costume designer Kate Hawley (Crimson Peak).

Filming is slated to begin in Northern Ireland and Ireland in spring 2026.

The film is inspired by the book Bad Bridget: Crime, Mayhem, and the Lives of Irish Emigrant Women by Elaine Farrell and Leanne McCormick, developed in collaboration with Queen’s University Belfast.

The nonfiction work explored the turbulent lives of Irish emigrant women—nicknamed Bad Bridgets—who were labeled as troublemakers in 19th-century America.

According to producers, the screenplay follows a young woman who receives a mysterious letter that propels her from famine-stricken Ireland to New York City, where she becomes entangled in the world of Irish Bridgets causing chaos in the metropolis.

Peppiatt’s breakout film Kneecap made history as the most nominated debut in BAFTA history, collecting seven British Independent Film Awards, five IFTAs, and the Breakthrough British/Irish Filmmaker honour from the London Critics’ Circle.
