Washington: The nomination process for election of executive committee for Pakistani- American doctor’s representative organization Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA) has started.

Four candidates for President and two contestants for General Secretary slots have filed their papers and have announced their candidacies so far.

However, Dr. Dawood Nasir of Plano Texas is expected to win the seat for Finance Secretary position un-opposed.

Fr the first time four candidates are expected to contest for the slot of president. The contest will be among Dr. Shahid Rashid (Texas), Dr. Sajid Chaudhry (Orlando Florida), Dr. Nasim Sheikh (St. Louis Missori), and Dr. Tariq Shahab (Virginia).

Dr. Shahid Rashid is currently serving APPNA as general Secretary. On the other hand, two contestants Dr. Zafar Iqbal (Florida) and Dr. Rizwan Khalid (New York) have filed for the position of General Secretary.

Dr. Zafar Iqbal is currently serving as APPNA’s Finance Secretary. DFW local activist and Plano resident Dr. Dawood Nasir is a candidate for Finance Secretary and is expected to win the contest without any opposition, as no one had filed for that position till the expiration of deadline date.

APPNA senior members and officers are of the opinion that this year elections will be a fierce contest especially for the position of president.

Candidacy of four contestants at the same time has made it difficult to project a probable winner in 2016 APPNA elections.
