PESHAWAR: The Youth of Waziristan has expressed concern over slow repatriation process of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) from North Waziristan and urged the government to expedite the process and start reconstruction and development process in the tribal region.
The tribal youth staged demonstration here on Friday. The demonstration was led by president of the organisation Shahzeb and general secretary Gulzar.
The protestors said that at the outset of the military operation in North Waziristan, the whole population of the agency was shifted to the down districts within three days. But now four months have passed since their return to their native areas and the process was yet to be completed, they said. They were of the view that according to the government claims, 95 percent of the agency had been cleared of terrorists, but the process of their repatriation could not be expedited.
They said the process of return should be expedited and reconstruction in the affected areas should be started immediately.
