Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din has said the daycare centres are being set up at various institutions across the province for the benefit of working women.
A sum of Rs. 200 million will be spent on this project during the current fiscal year, she said. She was addressing the inaugural ceremony of daycare centres at Government Degree College for Women Model Town and the Mayo Hospital on Tuesday. Principal Aatiqa Tanvir, Medical Superintendent Mayo Hospital Dr. Amjad Shehzad, teachers, students, doctors and paramedical staff were also present. The minister said the women constituted 52 percent population of the country.
Mina victims: Quaid-e-Millat-e-Jafria Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi has said that delay in provision of information about all martyrs, injured and missing persons in Mina stampede is really unfortunate. In a press release issued on Tuesday, Allama Sajid Naqvi demanded formation of an independent Islamic committee to investigate the unfortunate incident so that such incidents could be avoided in future. —Correspondent
PMA: Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Lahore has lamented the state of affairs at the Shaikh Zayed Hospital. In a press statement issued on Tuesday, PMA Lahore Chapter General Secretary Dr Shahid Malik said that, after the devolution of the Shaikh Zayed Hospital to the Punjab government, the bureaucracy had brought the hospital on the verge of destruction. —Correspondent
