Record budget for health, education, says minister

Punjab Finance Minister Dr Aisha Ghaus Pasha has said the provincial government is providing funds for the provision of modern health and education to people and cooperation of international donor agencies is also being sought for it.
She expressed these views while meeting the Canadian High Commissioner Heather Cruden in Minister’s Office. She informed the high commissioner that the budget allocated for education was Rs310.20 billion which was 27 percent of total expenditure whereas the budget allocated for health was Rs166.13 billon which was 14 percent of total expenditure of the government.
She said that four new Daanish schools would be set up in underdeveloped areas for the provision of modern education to talented students.
The Canadian high commissioner said the Canadian government and its development agencies would continue cooperation in social, economic, health and education sectors.
Other matters of mutual interests were also discussed. Meanwhile, the finance minister presided over a meeting in the Provincial Directorate of Local Fund Audit (LFA) on LFA reforms agenda. Local Fund Department gave a detailed presentation on its functions and working.
