Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has said that under the Chief Minister’s Faculty Development Programme, opportunities to get education from the best British universities will be provided to lecturers of public sector colleges of the province.
According to a handout issued on Friday, the minister said this during a meeting with a delegation of the Association of Colleges London and British Council in London. While talking to the delegation, the minister said the purpose of the Faculty Development Programme was to provide modern education opportunities to the lecturers of public sector for capacity building and promotion of education. He said the programme had been started with the cooperation of the British Council adding it would improve the standard of quality education. He also praised the assistance of UK in different spheres of life including education and health.
Earlier, talking to overseas Pakistanis at Pakistani embassy, the minister said expatriates were ambassadors of Pakistan and Overseas Pakistanis Commission had been set up to facilitate them and address their issues.
He said the role of Overseas Pakistanis Commission was commendable as it was addressing the issues of expatriates on priority basis. He said though the homeland was facing numerous problems including unemployment, load-shedding and terrorism, but the PML-N government was determined to steer the country out of these challenges with the cooperation of the masses. He said that confidence of foreign investors had been restored by the policies of the government and our economy was also improving.
investment: Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resource Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has said there are vast prospects of investment and cooperation under the public-private partnership between Chinese province Jin Lin and Punjab in agriculture, livestock, auto industry, railway, energy and other sectors. He said that on the invitation of Chief Minister of Chinese province Jin Lin Bayan Qolo, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif would soon visit Jin Lin for boosting a practicable working relationship between the two provinces.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of a special committee constituted by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for the promotion of working relationship between Jin Lin and Punjab provinces in different sectors at the Civil Secretariat.
Adviser to Chief Minister Khawaja Ahmed Hasaan, Chairman Punjab Board of Investment and Trade Abdul Basit, Special Secretary Agriculture Gulzar H Shah, Secretary Coordination to CM Nadeem Mehboob, Member PPP Cell Planning and Development Agha Waqar Javed, Director Punjab Information Technology Board Saima Sheikh, Atta Ullah Tarar and other officers concerned attended the meeting.
Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said that Jin Lin province had special expertise in automobile industry, railway, metro train, auto manufacturing and agriculture and livestock. He said that Jin Lin province had played an important role in upgrade of railway system in the developed countries like Brazil and America as well as bullet train of China.
He said the briefing would be given to Chinese authorities regarding transport, metro bus, orange line train, infrastructure and other projects of Punjab and dialogues would be held for promotion of investment.
He told the media that there was a suitable atmosphere for investment in Pakistan, especially in Punjab and Punjab government was providing foolproof security to Chinese engineers, experts and workers working on different mega projects.
He said the expected visit of the chief minister Punjab to Jin Lin would pave the way for further expanding economic and trade relations between the two provinces.
punished: The Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) on Friday dismissed one official from service and suspended the other one on the alleged charges of misconduct, embezzlement and corruption.
According to a spokesman of the ETPB, chairman ETPB dismissed Admin Officer of Pakistan Model Educational Institution Foundation (PMEIF) Aftab Javed on the recommendations of Secretary of the foundation on the charges of corruption whereas chairman ETPB suspended Cashier named Saeed-ur-Rehman on the alleged charges of misconduct and embezzlement. The chairman has also formed a committee to investigate the charges, the spokesman added.
