LAHORE
PAKISTAN Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Rana Sanaullah took oath as Punjab Law Minister.
Punjab Governor Rafique Rajwana administered the oath to Rana Sanaullah who regained his portfolio after having been cleared in the 2014 Model Town incident in which more than a dozen supporters of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) were killed by police.
He was removed from office by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. In the ceremony, Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha took oath as Provincial Finance Minister, as Shahbaz Sharif expanded his cabinet. Last week, a joint investigation team (JIT) formed by the Punjab government to investigate the Model Town incident had exonerated Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Sanaullah from charges of ordering or abetting the police action.
According to the report, all JIT members had unanimously declared Shahbaz Sharif and Rana Sanaullah innocent and dismissed allegations levelled against them in the FIR lodged by Minhajul Quran’s director administration. Neither had the federal government any role in law and order of the province nor was any evidence found to support the abetment charges.
CM greets: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif attended the oath-taking ceremony of two new provincial ministers at Governor’s House here Friday. He congratulated Rana Sanaullah Khan and Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha on assuming their new responsibilities.
Later, a meeting was held between Punjab Governor Rafique Rajwana and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in which matters of mutual interest and development programmes were discussed. Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said the Punjab government had taken solid measures for raising the living standard of deprived segments of the society.
He said that mega projects were being executed in the province for provision of basic amenities and relief to the citizens.
He said that development schemes were being completed on priority basis in various districts of South Punjab. He said that like previous years, more funds would be allocated than the ratio of population for the progress and development of South Punjab.
Meanwhile, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan has said that the statements of Imran Khan are proof of his being mentally upset and he has always been doing the politics of telling lie and levelling baseless allegations.
He said it would be better if Imran Khan should peep into his conscience before making character assassination of others. He said that Imran Khan should consider decisions of courts of other countries against him and if he had any confusion he should read report of JIT and he would be satisfied.
