Police children to get scholarships

LAHORETo boost the morale of the police force and to discourage ‘discrimination’ in educational facilities for their children, a unified policy has been finalised by Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera. Children of police personnel and civilian staff from the rank of constable to IG could benefit the policy.

To boost the morale of the police force and to discourage ‘discrimination’ in educational facilities for their children, a unified policy has been finalised by Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera.
Children of police personnel and civilian staff from the rank of constable to IG could benefit the policy.
It was decided that children of junior staff from grade 1 to 7 would be entitled to scholarship worth Rs 4,000, to Rs 6,000 to intermediate and graduation level. Children of those died during service or medically unfit due to police encounter, bomb blast or terrorist attacks would also be eligible to get the scholarship from intermediate level.
The policy to encourage outstanding children would enable them to get cash reward worth Rs 50,000, 40,000 and 30,000 on securing 1st, 2nd and 3rd position in all board exams, respectively. Under the new policy, Rs 50,000 to 30,000 as financial assistance will be given to children who meet the prescribed merit for purchase of books.
A panel of recognised universities across the country was also finalised and the scholarship facility would only be given to those children who get admission to one of the universities or colleges.
robbers: Bhati Gate Police Wednesday claimed to have arrested five members of two gangs involved in theft and robbery incidents.
The police also claimed to have recovered valuables worth tens of thousands of rupees and weapons from them.
According to a press release, the arrested people were identified as Shakeel aka Mithoo, Waseem Butt and Muhammad Ali from Mithoo Burglar Gang, and Muhammad Nadeem aka Gullu and Muhammad Ashfaq aka Kala from Gullu Burglar Gang.
A special police team arrested the ringleader of Mithoo Burglar Gang and his two accomplices and recovered a UPS, 12 television sets, LCDs, garments, Rs 100, 000 in cash and weapons. The gang members have a criminal record and previously served jail terms. They confessed their involvement in 60 other cases of robbery.
DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf announced commendatory certificates for the police team.
suspended: Senior Member Board of Revenue Nadeem Ashraf Wednesday suspended tehsildars of Sahiwal, DG Khan and Attock districts for showing negligence and delay in allotment of inherited property to women and issued instructions for taking action against them.
Addressing a departmental meeting, Ashraf said the committees comprising assistant commissioners, tehsildars and assistant directors land record are sending weekly reports to the government regarding wrong distribution of inherited transfer deeds.
He said women are important segment of society and they have been made partner in inherited property but some revenue officers are misusing their powers.
He said tehsildars of these three districts have been suspended on the complaints of the people and reports of these committees.
