Social activists of the Ghagar union council have formed a ‘social alliance’ to resist the encroachment of land belonging to a government school of the area.
Activists from Ghagar, a rural area bordering District Thatta, claim that authorities have been trying to shift a 12-room school building from Ghagar to the Gulshan-e-Hadeed area.
Haji Muhammad, a social activist of the area, said that an elected representative, at the behest of land grabbers, has been trying to shift the school to Gulshan-e-Hadeed, citing excuses such as shortage of teachers and lax administration as reasons for the move. “We have formed an alliance, the Ghagar Samaji Ittehad, to oppose this move,” Muhamamd told The News.
He added that Ismail Magsi, Haji Hussain Magsi, Muhammad Ali Babar and Noor Hussain Qaiserani were among the leaders of the alliance.
