The Sindh information and local government minister has dispelled rumours about the imposition of governor’s rule in the province.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday at the inauguration of a flower show in central district, Sharjeel Inam Memon said the government and the armed forces were on the same page in the fight against terrorism and the promotion of democracy.
The minister said there was no deadlock between the Pakistan People’s Party and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.
“All issues between the two parties will be resolved amicably and the matter will become clearer after talks are held following the senate elections,” he added.
Memon said corruption was being wiped out from all government departments and a biometric system was being introduced to ensure the attendance of the employees.
“After April, all local bodies’ employees will receive their salaries through this biometric system and physical presence at banks,” he added. “This will be a major step towards removing ghost employees.”
The minister said an anti-encroachment campaign had been started across the province.
He added that action was being taken against a wedding hall constructed on a hockey ground in central district,
“Encroachments on and around storm-water drains have become a serious problem,” he pointed out.
“There are over 0.2 million living on Gujjar Nullah. In fact, some government offices are constructed on the drain too.”
