Intelligence official gunned down in Bannu

BANNU: An official of the Intelligence Agency was shot dead while his brother sustained injuries in firing by unidentified gunmen near Chak Dadan on the Indus Highway on Friday, sources said. The sources said that Inspector Mian Muhammad Zuban Khan and his brother Dr Mian Muhammad Safeer were on their way home in Miangano Killay from Peshawar when unidentified gunmen fired at their car. The official was killed on the spot while his brother was wounded. He was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Bannu where his condition was stated to be stable. The culprits managed to escape.

JUP office-bearer shot dead

OKARA: JUP district general secretary was shot dead while returning to home Friday evening. Shahzad Anjum Ansari, district general secretary JUP, was returning to home at Mansoorabad colony after attending a marriage ceremony in the evening when he was rounded up in a street allegedly by his brothers and relatives, who showered volleys of bullets at him. Shahzad Anjum Ansari fell seriously injured. He was rushed to the hospital but he breathed his last on the way. As soon as the news of his death reached local leaders and office-bearers, of all the religious and political parties reached the hospital. However, DPO Faisal Rana assigned the task of apprehension of murderers within 24 hours.

Three alleged militants arrested

PESHAWAR: The police arrested two suspected militants believed to be involved in attacks on the security forces and bomb blasts, an official said on Friday. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Dr Mian Saeed Ahmad said two suspected militants, Mohammadullah alias Yousuf and Ikramullah of Lashkar-e-Islam, had been arrested during raids on Friday. The police said the detained militants were allegedly involved in attacks on the security forces and a number of bombings in Peshawar and other areas.

Suspect killed in Okara encounter

OKARA: A suspect was killed in an encounter with Hujra Shah Moqeem police here on Thursday night. Police signalled two suspects near Qila Sondha Singh but instead of stopping their motorcycle, they opened fire on them and escaped. To it, police started chasing them. Near Tiba Shams Kay on Chunian Road, an encounter took place between the suspects and police. As a result, an unidentified suspect was killed on the spot while his accomplice managed to escape.

16 women injured in Hafizabad accident

Landlord kills peasant for non-payment of loan

SUKKUR: A landlord shot a peasant dead near here a day ago, said reports on Friday.According to the reports, landlord Zulfiqar Brohi, along with his employees, forcefully took away a peasant Heero Bheel from his house in village Jamshed Bugti of Sanghar and later shot him dead.Reports said relatives of the victim carried the body to the main road and staged a demonstration, which was continuing for the last 36 hours. They refuse to end the protest until the landlord is arrested. The demonstration blocked the Sanghar-Nawabshah Road. However, the police claimed they had arrested the brother of the murderer. Relatives of the victim peasant said the victim owed the landlord Rs70,000.
