SUKKUR: A blast took place during a rally being attended by Syed Ghulam Hussain Shah Bukhari, the Pir of Qambar Sharif, in Jacobabad on Wednesday.

Syed Ghulam Hussain Shah was among the 10 injured while his grandson, Shafiq Hussain Shah, was killed in the remote-controlled blast following which the security situation in several cities of Sindh deteriorated.

Superintendent of Police of Jacobabad, Younis Chandio, told APP that the bomb had been planted at the roadside, and when the vehicle in which Syed Ghulam Hussain Shah and his grandsons were traveling reached the point it went off.

Following the blast, markets of Jacobabad, Sukkur, Khairpur, Shikarpur and Kashmore were shut down. The Sunni Tehreek announced a day of mourning in Sindh and also called for a province-wide strike across the province on Thursday.
