KARACHI: Pakistan disabled cricket team overwhelmed Afghanistan by nine wickets to win the two-match 40-overs-a-side one-day series 2-0 here at the National Stadium on Friday.
Arif Richard hammered an unbeaten 95-ball 78 to enable Pakistan chase the 157-run target in 27.4 overs after losing only Matloob Qureshi, who fell for 10.
Arif, who did a fine job throughout the series, smacked nine fours in his splendid knock. He was ably backed by Rao Iftikhar who scored 59-ball 57 not out with eight fours. The duo shared 138 runs for the second wicket unbroken stand. Left-arm pacer Fazal got 1-28.
Earlier, Afghanistan were folded for 156 in 39.4 overs after being invited to bat.
Nabiullah Nabi, who led the side in the three-match T20 series, scored 32 off 43 with four boundaries. Haseebullah made 43-ball 24 with two fours, while Khan Zada belted an unbeaten 21 with two fours.
Left-arm pacer Abdullah Khan captured 3-22 in four overs. Spinner Mohammad Ameer got 2-22.
Advisor to PCB Chairman Salahuddin Sallu graced the closing ceremony and handed over trophy to Pakistan’s skipper Hasnain Alam.
Arif Richard was declared man-of-the-match, while Mohammad Ashraf was adjudged the best player from Afghanistan.
The visitors were also presented Sindhi Ajrak. Speaking on the occasion, Sallu appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Disabled Cricket Association (PDCA) for the promotion of disabled cricket in the country. Pakistan have already clinched the three-match T20 series 3-0.
