PESHAWAR: Increase in robberies have been reported in the last several weeks as more people were robbed of cash in Gulbahar and Shah Qabool in broad daylight on Wednesday.
An official confirmed that two people had been robbed in the limits of Gulbahar and Shah Qabool police stations.
He said police were investigating both cases. The official said that Shah Qabool police had collected CCTV footage after reports that a resident of Faisalabad, Mujahid, was robbed as he collected money from local traders.
Another citizen, Shabbir Ahmad, was robbed when armed men snatched cash from him after he collected it from a bank in the limits of Gulbahar Police Station.
It was learnt that Rs3.7 million was robbed in Gulbahar and Rs800,000 in Shah Qabool. Three other robberies were also committed within the limits of other police stations.
A source said the number of robberies not being registered by police was higher compared to the lodged cases.
It added that so many incidents were being reported in urban, suburban and rural areas.
The station house officers in most of the cases either do not register first information reports or only lodge a roznamcha (daily diary) to hide the increasing crimes from their bosses.
