ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council and Special Aide to Prime Minister on Interfaith Harmony and Middle East Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has announced that the Green Friday will be observed today (Friday) across the country and Ulema in Friday sermons will urge people to take vaccination against coronavirus and make awareness regarding environmental issues.

“Shariah does not prevent vaccination against coronavirus as the Islamic law commands to ensure safety of oneself and others,” he said while talking to the media here on Thursday outside the Parliament House. He said tree plantation, prevention of water and cleanliness are basic commandments of Shariah.

He said that on the instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, a decision regarding the Evacuee Trust Property Act has been taken under the chairmanship of Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser. He said the Islamic Ideological Council will formulate recommendations in the light of the views of scholars and representatives of the provinces.

He said the members of a committee headed by Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Noorul Haq Qadri will dispatch their views to the Islamic Ideological Council which will formulate recommendations in consultation with Ulema and the Ministry of Law and Finance. He said the prime minister has given clear instructions that the problems of Ulema, Madaris and mosques should be resolved on a priority basis and all possible steps are being taken in this regard.

Meanwhile, Ashrafi called on UAE Ambassador to Pakistan Hamad Obaid Ibrahimi and discussed with him issues of bilateral interest.
