Mian Iftikhar Hussain for unity to meet COVID-19 challenge

NOWSHERA: Awami National Party leader Mian Iftikhar Hussain, on Saturday said that the government, politicians and the institutions should demonstrate exemplary national solidarity to cope with the prevailing coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Visiting the Qazi Medical Complex to inquire after the health of the patients, the ANP leader said that complete lockdown should be implemented in a true sense and the government should spend money on the poor segment of society during the corona crisis.

Hospital Director Dr Muhammad Arif Khan and focal person for the isolation ward of coronavirus patients Dr Zahid Khan were also present on the occasion.

Mian Iftikhar was not allowed to inquire after the health of coronavirus patients at the isolation ward, however, Hospital Director Dr Arif briefed him on the condition of patients being under treatment at the hospital. He was told that there were 20 suspected patients of coronavirus, in which six reported positive for the virus.

Dr Arif said that health of the three out of six patients of coronavirus was improving while a woman had died due to multiple health complications along with corona infection.

On this occasion, Mian Iftikhar paid rich tributes to the doctors, nurses and other health staff for their services being extended during prevailing coronavirus epidemic.

He said that the government should provide all facilities and personal protective equipment to the doctors, nurses and other health staff, as they were fighting on the frontline against the fast-spreading viral infection at the cost of their lives.

He also lauded the services and role of civil administration, police, army and other law enforcement agencies in the fight against the coronavirus.
